Guide To Figuring Out The Skills You Have And Need To Get To Your Career Goals
I really hope that lasts week article was useful and you were able to sit down to figure out what is that you want to do with your career goals in terms of obtaining new skills and steps to take toward it.Whether you want to start a new career or upgrade your current one depends on your personal situation.Hopefully now you have it all figured out especially the whole timing thing and set your goals for learning a new skill.
Now the next step is what I want to talk about with you today, how to figure out what you really can do now as opposed to later in your career or side gig. Set time for soul searching and this is the time to really think. You might want to do this when it is quite so you can really concentrate.Start by making a list using paper and pencil, don’t use a computer go with the traditional way of writing. I find that it gives you that journaling/diary environment and you really write how you feel plus the ideas come out in a nice flow.Start by thinking to yourself what I am good at currently or have the right skills set to use in my career today to get started.Second, list things that you are good at somewhat and need to polish it in order to apply those skills to your career goals.Third, make a list of things that you don’t know and will need to learn in order to use it toward your career goals to take it to the next level. The reason you need to do this is because you want to feel motivated and start with what you already have. This is why you take the skills you already have and apply them first. Once you make a list and know what is that you really good at today you can begin your journey toward your career goals and not put it off any longer. Next you will tackle ares that you need to work on to further your skills or add new skills toward your career goals. This way you dont get unmotivated and really go ahead and utilize what you already have. The rest you work on step by step.I find that if you don’t move ahead one step your are going a step back and if you have career goals this is not a good way to approach it and very unproductive.
Your career goals can be something new you want to tackle or work on your current career to further it. It can even be a business idea that you have in mind and looking for ways to get it going with what you have already and than further your other skills. This is why taking a pencil and paper and writing it down will help you to visualize your goals. You will really think about it because it is in front of you and you can go back to it in the future as well to see if you are on the right track.Trust me it works and I did it this way as well. I am sharing this with you in hopes of helping you.
